Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at which he graduated in 1995. In addition to his role in the drama series that was released internationally as The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other internationally acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene of BBC Drama Sherlock. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American TV show. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in Danish television drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm.In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English as well as mastering various accents. He said that his brother and he first learned English by listening and studying the Monty Python songs.
